Elgin took an early advantage to raise Hardhillock hopes but Nairn came back strongly to record a convincing 6-2 win and retain their title with a 100% record. Forres hit form to win well against Nairn Dunbar to take fourth place.

Nairn took the points against Forres in their afternoon match with a strong performance throughout the team. Only Bryan Fotheringham once again showing his class for Forres, particularly with his deadly short game, gained a point for his side.

Moray are now back in the frame with a win against Elgin. We have now Moray, Elgin and Nairn with four points apiece. Moray if they win their last game against Forres will set the target for Elgin and Nairn ahead of their Sunday afternoon meeting as the title decider. The new final day “Live Scoring” will be even more valuable in keeping everyone up to date!

On a beautiful sunny evening at Elgin, Moray were pushed all the way by Nairn Dunbar before emerging winners in the opening match of this year’s league. They just held the edge before wins by the top two Stuart Tatters and Kevin Thomson took the two points for the Lossiemouth side.

Moray will be sure to mount a serious challenge and Elgin will be in the frame especially with home advantage. Forres and Nairn Dunbar are more than capable of pulling off a surprise result as shown by Nairn Dunbar stopping Moray’s charge to the title last year.
